CHALLENGE
Distribution center – Massive tilt wall building with steel racks from floor to ceiling throughout the facility where Glazers spirits are stored prior to delivery. The steel storage racks on the perimeter of the North and West walls were leaning to the extent it became a critical safety issue. The pour strip had begun settling quickly from 3 to 8 FT out from the perimeter wall. Warehouse space was a premium, and they had already begun moving product off the racks because of the safety concerns, affecting the forklift traffic flow of the operation. Minimizing downtime was extremely important.
SOLUTION
Glazer’s contacted Superior and requested an effective repair solution that was minimally invasive, very efficient, creating as little downtime as possible and which we could mobilize immediately to perform. The injection of High-Density Polyurethane was recommended. Upon drilling the injection holes, large voids were discovered beneath the pour strip to the extent there was little subgrade supporting the foundation. Superior was contacted late on a Wednesday, did a site visit on Thursday morning, mobilized Friday, worked through the weekend and completed the work early Monday. Glazer’s was able to return all there products to the shelves and become fully operational within days.
PROJECT SUMMARY
- The work was performed according to our standard specifications.
- 8,000 pounds of HD Poly was injected
